World Hand Hygiene Day 2018

The 5th of May 2018 is World Hand Hygiene Day. The World Health Organization has created this event as a day to raise awareness in hand hygiene care. This year the focus is particularly centered on improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of sepsis. On average, one in ten patients in care get an infection, which could ultimately lead to sepsis. Sepsis is a reaction to an infection in which the body attacks its own organs and tissues as the result of the infection. If not recognized early and managed promptly, it can lead to septic shock, multiple organ failure and death. It affects more than 30 million people worldwide every year, potentially leading to six million deaths every year.

One of the preventative measures against infections such as sepsis is good hand washing, one of the first key steps to reduce the occurrence of sepsis. By simply cleaning your hands at the right times, in the right way, with the right product can prevent the spread of sepsis. Simple, right?
